Hi HHS,                                                   COPING

This month our focus word for our 7 C's is COPING. Fitting for this month as we settle into 4th quarter and some pretty wonderful testing days that I am sure are stressful for not only our students but our faculty as well.

Children who learn to cope effectively with stress are better prepared to overcome life's challenges. The best protection against unsafe, worrisome behaviors may be  wide repertoire of positive, adaptive coping strategies.

Some questions you may ask your classes to spark conversations are:

Do you know the difference between a real crisis and something that just feels like an emergency? How do you handle these situations?

Do you teach a coping strategy instead of saying "just stop" to a negative behavior?

Do you model problem solving step by step or just react emotionally when feeling overwhelmed?

Many of these questions can lead to conversations on coping and the skills needed to effectively manage stressful situations.

Hope you all have a wonderful MARCH and COPE positively with all that comes your way.
